wild islands 1Wild Islands (series 1)
Wild Islands is a series of five films presented and photographed by Sue that take the viewer on a fascinating journey to the wild side of the Channel Islands. Lying at the extreme south-west of the British Isles, the wildlife here is a unique blend of the common and the exotic. It’s a place where plants and animals from much further south thrive alongside those from northern Europe making this one of nature’s most dramatic crossroads. Well known as a tourist destination and a centre of international finance, this series reveals that the true value of these Islands lies in their remarkable natural history. The five half hour films feature the wildlife of Alderney, Sark, the Islands' harbours, natural newcomers and spring across the Channel Islands. The series was broadcast on Channel Television in 2007. (Photographed, produced, presented & edited by Sue Daly, music by Marc Mitchell)

secret seasSecret Seas of the Channel Islands
Secret Seas of the Channel Islands features all four of Sue's underwater films on one DVD. Six years in the making, the films show that, far from being dull and murky, the waters around the British Isles are as colourful as any coral reef with all the drama and danger.
‘Bouley Bay Watch’ takes us through the underwater seasons in Jersey revealing rarely seen courtship, hunting and survival techniques. We meet, amongst others, an enormous lobster, the oldest resident of the bay, and the predatory cuttlefish and witness the elaborate courtship dance of the dragonet.
In ‘Sark, a Secret Sea’ we take an underwater tour from the shallows to the deep and back again. The reefs are encrusted with fragile corals, hunters prowl the seabed and the most colourful fish have the most amazing sex lives.
In ‘Reefs of Iron’ we explore some of the Channel Islands’ shipwrecks. Some fell foul of reef or tide while others were condemned by war, weather or simple human error. These un-natural offerings from the world above the waves quickly become a haven for marine life but why do so many sea creatures make them their home?
‘Living on the Edge’ tells the story of the coast of Jersey, a wild and turbulent realm where ocean collides with land. Twice daily the water draws back to reveal over seventy square miles of seashore providing a home for marine life and thousands of over wintering seabirds.

Les CachesThe Farm That Time Forgot
When Les Caches Farm was bequested to the National Trust of Guernsey no-one was very excited about the barn behind the main house. With a modern roof and floors, it had been used as a cow shed for years. This short film reveals the clues that led architect Andrew Dyke to discover that the building was in fact the original 15th century farmhouse. The film follows the restoration work from the huge oak roof beams and thatching to the tourelle staircase and furze oven using traditional methods such as lime plastering, wattle and daub and granite work. (Photographed, produced & edited by Sue Daly, presented by Andrew Dyke, music by Marc Mitchell, running time 20 mins)
