fan coralJewel anemonesWith its wealth of colourful marine life and clear waters, Sark is one of the best dive destinations for underwater photographers in the British Isles. This week long workshop is perfect for those just starting out in underwater photography as well as improvers with informal, one to one tuition from award-winning wildlife photographer and film-maker Sue Daly in how to get the best from your camera, whether a compact or DSLR. There will also be an introduction to what you can do with your images in Photoshop. Underwater videographers are also welcome with advice offered on putting together a storyline and editing your footage as well as filming and lighting underwater. Sue will also be on hand to help you identify the marine life you capture on camera. For experienced underwater photographers the week offers you the chance to dive with like-minded divers and photograph some of Sark's beautiful marine life including corals and the inquisitve Cuckoo Wrasse. There will also be plenty of encounters with species rarely, if ever, seen around the British mainland such as the Black-face Blenny, Ormer and the fabulous Anemone Prawn as well as the oppurtunity to dive the unique Gouliot Caves.Diver with camera

Diver in cavesThe workshop includes six days boat diving around the reefs of Sark and, weather permitting, a wreck dive or two off Jersey or Guernsey. The dive sites will be chosen specifically with underwater photography in mind. Our boat for the week will be the ten metre Starfish of Sark run by Andy Leaman of Sark Diving Services who has more than 20 years experience as a diver and skipper in Channel Island waters. Starfish now has a lift fitted to the stern for easy diver pickups.

The workshop fee of £595 includes two dives a day for six days (including tanks, weights and air) and self catering accommodation in a shared thatched cottage. The fee also includes return foot passenger travel with Condor Ferries from the south coast of England to Guernsey which means no worries about trying to cram your dive and camera gear into airline baggage allowances. Transfers between Sark and Guernsey are also included aboard Starfish. You will need to bring your own diving gear and underwater camera equipment. Nitrox is available for an additional £5 per fill. (The depths and tidal conditions around Sark are not suitable for novice divers unless accompanied by an experienced diver.) Bicycle hire can be arranged so that you can explore the beautiful island of Sark before and after diving. There are several grocery stores on the island as well as delicious seafood available directly from the fishermen for self catering and an excellent choice of restaurants for eating out.starfishAnemone Prawn
